Our History: A Century of Service

Newnan Utilities water towerThe Georgia Assembly’s 1904 decision to allow municipalities to own and operate public utilities cleared the way for a century of innovation. 2004 marked Newnan Utilities’ 100th anniversary.

From the first flicker of electricity that lit a downtown Newnan street corner, Newnan Utilities has been committed to delivering the services that enhance the quality of life throughout Coweta County. Many of our past and present technological milestones have greatly influenced cable and utility companies across the state and across the country. As we enter our second century, Newnan Utilities continues to light and lead the way in more ways than most local utility providers.
