In 2007, Newnan Utilities proudly announced the implementation of a long-term, practical solution for bio-solid reuse with the development of a composting program. This responsible choice creates a soil additive byproduct to be used in landscape applications. Our state-of-the-art composting site provides an alternative solution to landfill dumping, solidifying our position of accountable environmental management.

Newnan Utilities' state-of-the-art compost facility provides an alternative to landfills and the burning of wood wastes. Along with the processing of tree wastes, the facility composts bio-solids from the Wahoo Creek and Mineral Springs wastewater treatment plants. The result is NuSoil, a product useful for landscaping, gardening, agricultural applications and topsoil remediation. NuSoil has been certified as safe and effective by University of Georgia soil experts.
NuSoil displays excellent performance as a soil amendment and additive. In a pilot program conducted at Newnan Utilities’ compost facility, results were monitored and documented.
