Call Before You Dig
Planning a home improvement project or any type of excavation?
Whether you’re installing a mailbox, planting a tree, or hiring a contractor for larger work, Georgia law requires you to contact 811 before you dig.
When you call 811 (or submit a request online), the Utilities Protection Center of Georgia will coordinate with utility providers, like Newnan Utilities, to mark underground lines at no cost to you. These markings help prevent dangerous accidents, service disruptions, and costly repairs.
How It Works:
- Call 811 or submit a request at Georgia811.com at least three business days before you plan to dig.
- Utility companies will send someone to mark underground utility lines in your work area.
- Once marked and confirmed, you’re safe to begin your digging project.
It’s fast, free, and the law.
